Summary: How does love happen between a blind and a mute?
Comments: My first multi-chaptered fic after a series of PWP oneshots. YAY! It’s just the prologue but with my plot bunnies feasting on this idea like a pack of hungry wolves, I’ll probably post the first chapter by next week. Anyway, comments will be greatly appreciated and loved. Thank you~ ^^

Thick cover met hundreds of thin pages as a book was snapped close, a pair of raven eyes blinking away tiredness caused by seeing thousands of letters that formed into beautiful words, words that created an engaging story, a story that piqued his interest and took his lively imagination to new worlds. He leaned his head back and closed his eyes for a moment, letting the gentle breeze of late spring touch his skin and the sound of rustling leaves soothe him. He felt as if the trees were singing to him, humming a tender lullaby, coaxing him to give in to the sudden drowsiness that languidly washed over him. It was only ten o’clock in the morning but to him, it was a good time to take a nap or enjoy the rare silence in the usually crowded park that he frequented to. With a sigh, he sunk further into the wooden bench that cradled his lithe body, allowing himself to be lulled by nature into a peaceful sleep.
Seconds turned to minutes and after what seemed like hours, he opened his eyes again, thick patches of clouds greeting his vision, the midmorning sun peeking behind the white, fluffy mass of condensed water. He released a groan and straightened in his seat, sleepily rubbing his eyes as a hand immediately looked for the book that he laid on his lap before his brief nap, only to find the thick collection of printed words neatly placed beside him. It was then that he noticed the presence of another person seated at the other side of the bench, his hazy obsidian eyes taking in the sight of a beautiful profile composed of a perfectly sculpted forehead, long pointed nose and the plumpest lips he had ever seen.
"It's a nice day, isn't it?" A beautiful, gentle voice uttered as the stranger turned his head towards him, his breath stuck in his throat as he gazed straight through a pair of vitreous aureate saucers. The man was lovely, angelic even, with his long layered honey blond hair, smooth alabaster skin and pinkish cheeks that reminded him of a beatific cherub that he read from a couple of the hundred books he had in his small library.
His throat suddenly went dry, his heart making funny jumps and three sixties in his ribcage as he simply stared at the angelic creature before him, astonished as to why a mere stranger, a person he had never even known, had a peculiar effect on him. Those chestnut saucers blinked, wonder beginning to mar that gorgeous face as the other waited for a reply from him. He immediately snapped himself out of his reverie and prepared an answer. But instead of opening his mouth to speak, he raised his hands and began to sign.
Yes, it is.
Yes, he couldn’t speak. Shiroyama Yuu was mute and he had lost the ability to speak since he was thirteen. His disability caused by a dreaded car accident that affected a part of his brain that was responsible for speech. Since then, he had learned to live his life without hearing himself uttering a coherent sentence, learned to communicate using his hands or sometimes with a pen and paper, accepted the fact that most people would never see him as normal again, that he would either be pitied or misunderstood by anyone he met. But despite all that, life was still good to him. Despite his disability, he was lucky that he still found a career in the music industry as a composer, creating songs and writing lyrics for artists that didn’t have the innate skill to properly lay words into music.
He waited for the enigmatic male to answer him, but the other was still staring bewilderingly at him. Then, a slender arm was raised, a graceful hand reaching to him and in the next second, calloused but gentle fingers were touching his face, the delicate caress sending sparks running through his entire body. A sigh of relief and a serene smile suddenly appeared on those luscious lips. "You're still here. I thought you’ve already left."
Yuu gave the stranger a puzzled stare and bit his lower lip in contemplation. Why did the man looked as if he couldn’t... as if he was... But surely, he wasn’t? Swallowing the small lump that had formed in his throat, he leaned forward and looked deeper into those glassy sorrel eyes, finally confirming his suspicion. Taking a deep breath, he gently took the hand that was on his face and turned it upwards. With his index finger he began to write his reply on the angel’s palm, a benign smile curving up on his lips.
Today was indeed a nice day.
This time, it was the blond’s turn to look puzzled, a soft gasp slipping past those plush lips. “Are you...”
He didn’t wait for the other to finish his inquiry and again, with his index finger he wrote...
I’m Yuu.
It took a few seconds for the mysterious creature to reply but when he did, a graceful smile was present on his beautiful face.
“I’m Kouyou.”
Note: I’m probably digging my own grave by starting this multi-chaptered fic, but whatever. This plot had been bugging me for days, begging to be written. I hope you enjoyed it and please tell me what you think. Thanks again. *^^*

As you know, English isn't my first language so it'll be nice if you can help me fix and grammatical slips or suggest better expressions. I'm really having a difficult time with that. Though from what I've seen so far, your English is impeccably good. :3 I wouldn't have guessed it wasn't your first language. But I'll do my best to help with all this, I usually do most of it anyway. :D

4/2/13 22:03 (UTC)Sure thing. This month has clashed a lot with fics but it's clearing up now. I usually don't take too long. My average on finishing is usually around 3-4 days unless something happens, in which case I will let you know. :3 Sometimes I'll finish sooner if the chapter is short so it depends on what I'm working with too. I'm used to Xadow and Scarlet's novel-long chapters haha. XD
